Jim Adams brings a diversified background to the industry, a background which includes research, real estate, business and government.

Prior to his current position, Adams served as the Deputy Arizona State Land Commissioner in the management of the 9.2 million acre land Trust. He also served as manager of the Commercial Section, and Director of the Real Estate Division overseeing planning, engineering, land sales and leasing.

Adams has been a principal specializing in real estate consulting, brokerage land investment, was a senior manager for Markland Properties, the developers of Scottsdale Ranch and Gainey Ranch, and was also a manager for McCormick Ranch, a 4,200 acre community in Scotsdale, Arizona.

Adams began his career as an economist for private consulting company, and then as an economist for Salt River project, a major utility company.

A resident of Arizona since 1956, he received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Texas A&M University in 1971.

In his management roles, Adams has also had extensive experience working with all larger jurisdictions in Arizona, including counties, cities and towns. In addition, Adams has broad experience working with federal agencies including Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management, National Parks Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Environmental Protection Agency, and Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to State Land, Adams has worked with major state agencies including Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Water Resources, Parks Department, and Department of Game and Fish.

Professional and civic affiliations have included the Urban Land Institute, as well as a number of organizations for which Adams has served as a board member and/or officer, including Valley Partnership, American Marketing Association, American Statistical Association, Phoenix Symphony Council, and Camelback Mental Health Foundation.
